As a part of its ₹10 billion investment, Zetwerk Electronics opens a new facility in Tamil Nadu with cutting-edge tech and 1200 jobs. Experts see this as a support to India’s dream of $500 billion ESDM market.
Zetwerk Electronics, a subsidiary of the Zetwerk Manufacturing Businesses, has officially opened its largest electronics manufacturing facility in Pannur, located 55 km from Chennai in the Tiruvallur district, on Saturday.
This 15-acre site is part of an earlier-announced ₹10 billion investment and will focus on producing electronic components for consumer durables and IT hardware, initially for the domestic market with plans for international expansion.

According to Amrit Acharya, CEO & Co-founder of Zetwerk, it is set to play a critical role in bolstering India’s electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM) sector, supporting the nation’s goal of a $500 billion ESDM market and Tamil Nadu’s vision of becoming a $1 trillion economy.
The factory is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including five surface-mount technology (SMT) lines, manual insertion (MI) lines, potting, conformal coating, and rigorous testing systems. It will specialise in manufacturing control boards for washing machines, refrigerators, air conditioners, and IT hardware. The facility is expected to employ around 1200 skilled workers at full capacity.
The opening ceremony was attended by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting Indian businesses in becoming global leaders. He also highlighted two major electronics manufacturing clusters being developed in Tamil Nadu to accelerate growth in the sector further.
Tamil Nadu’s Industries Minister, TRB Rajaa, noted that the state is India’s leading electronics exporter, accounting for 36 per cent of national exports, and investments like Zetwerk’s will help reach the goal of ₹100 billion in annual electronics exports.
Amrit Acharya also revealed plans for the company to go public within the next 15 to 24 months, with preparations already underway.
“India’s journey towards $500 billion electronics manufacturing took a giant leap today with the inauguration of Zetwerk Electronics’ state-of-the-art facility,” highlighted India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) on LinkedIn, congratulating the company.
The inauguration ceremony was also graced by Pankaj Mohindroo, Chairman, ICEA, V Arun Roy, Tamil Nadu Industries Secretary, and S Krishnan, Secretary, Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
