ZTE hosted a 5G tour exhibition in Mumbai, wherein it demonstrated its latest growth in standard development, product development, commercial verification and industrial cooperation to leading 5G in commercialization and technologies. The firm said that around 150 telecom industry experts from Vodafone, Idea, internet service providers and other partners were present at the exhibition.

In a statement, it said that it had presented the 5G field trial to major operators in China and overseas. Among all, it highlighted its 3.5GHz based 5G continuous coverage experimental network, the closest to the commercial 5G network. It further said that its innovation and related experience in the new-age technology had aided its role as a provider in technology, standards, products and industrial cooperation.

5G in India
India plans to roll-out 5G services by 2020. However, telecom secretary, Aruna Sundararajan had recently said that the high-speed internet facility would be driven by its demand. With the current demand for 4G in the country, telecom providers are optimistic about the 5G idea. Leading providers have begun testing and verification processes. The telecom department has also been in talks to formalise the auction norms and spectrum prices for the 5G band.

After South Korea, Japan and China, where 5G services are slated to be out within two years, India has followed suit to fasten its pace in adopting the new technology ahead of the set target. DoT has also been discussing with South Korea to set up 5G test laboratories. The first set of 5G trials are expected to be completed by 2019.
