Eyeing to prepare and assist engineering students for industry-ready careers, Altium and AWS India join hands for a new curriculum in electronics, cloud computing, and IoT in Indian tech institutes.
On Tuesday, Altium LLC, a global provider of electronics design software, announced a collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) India Private Limited to enhance technology education in India with a new curriculum that addresses the evolving industry demands.
As a part of the partnership, Altium will join the AWS Skills to Jobs Tech Alliance in India, a coalition of employers, government agencies, educational leaders, and workforce development organisations, to address skills gaps in current university and college curricula and increase student career readiness.
This initiative will further combine Altium’s capability in electronics design with AWS’s cloud expertise to offer a comprehensive programme in electronics, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
The new curriculum includes four key AWS modules: AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials, AWS Technical Essentials, Amazon AppStream 2.0 Primer, and IoT Fundamentals, and will be integrated into engineering programmes at universities and colleges, with additional support through Altium’s labs and centres of excellence.
The company disclosed that it has already partnered with 104 institutions and reached over 11,400 students across the country. It has set up these facilities at institutions, including Chandigarh University, Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, IIT Bhubaneshwar, and SRM Institute of Science and Technology, with plans for further expansion.
“This collaboration goes beyond education; it’s about equipping a generation with skills that directly translate into industry impact,” commented Rea Callender, Vice President of Altium Education.
Furthermore, Altium will offer specialised training programmes and workshops for professors in the field. Along with AWS India, it will host joint initiatives, including on-campus workshops, challenges, and career opportunities for students completing the programme.
“The government of India has a top priority to transform India’s capabilities as a global manufacturing and electronics hub and is focused on driving innovation and upskilling the talent pool in this regard,” noted Pankaj Gupta from AWS India.
He assured that AWS and Altium are coming together to support this vision by helping students develop fundamental skills in cloud computing and electronics design.
