Boosting renewable energy with a ₹25 billion investment in Madhya Pradesh, SECI and MP government sign MoU for a 200MW Solar Project and 1000MWhbattery storage.
The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), a Navratna CPSU under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, has signed up with the Government of Madhya Pradesh to establish a 200MW Solar Project in Dhar. This will be under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Scheme, alongside a 1000MWh battery storage project in the state.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was formalised during the ongoing two-day Global Investors Summit 2025 in Bhopal from 24th to 25th February 2025.
The 200MW Solar Project is part of a broader 500MW Agreement signed in 2023 with MP Power Management Company Limited (MPPMCL), which will see SECI providing electricity to the state for a period of 25 years.
According to MNRE, SECI has proposed an investment of ₹25 billion in a phased manner as a part of its plans for expanding renewable energy in Madhya Pradesh.
The agreement was signed by Sivakumar V Vepakomma, Director (Power Systems) at SECI, and Manu Srivastava, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (NRE), in the presence of Rakesh Shukla, the Minister of New & Renewable Energy of Madhya Pradesh, and R P Gupta, IAS (Retired), Chairman and Managing Director of SECI.
The summit, organised by the Government of Madhya Pradesh, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the participation of the state’s Governor, Mangubhai Chhaganbhai Patel, and the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav.
It saw the participation of key stakeholders from the government of India as well as representatives from various states and countries, highlighting the growing interest in renewable energy investments.
