Sunkind Plans 4GW Solar Manufacturing Capacity in India

Driving India’s clean energy future, Sunkind and ConfirmWare commit to 4GW solar module manufacturing across multiple regions.

Sunkind India Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with China-based ConfirmWare PV Manufacturing Solutions to establish 4 gigawatts (GW) of solar module manufacturing capacity across India.

This project, which will be executed in phases over the next 24 months, is a step towards strengthening India’s domestic solar production capabilities.

As part of the plan, the new manufacturing facilities will be distributed across multiple regions in the country. 

According to both companies, this decentralised production strategy aims to improve logistics, reduce operational bottlenecks, and enable a quicker response to regional demand.

In the initial phase, the collaboration will roll out a high-efficiency solar module featuring TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) technology.

With a 610 watt-peak (Wp) output and M10 solar cell architecture, the module is being developed for utility-scale and industrial applications. If implemented as planned, it is expected to be among the highest-capacity panels currently manufactured in the country.

To achieve this, ConfirmWare will supply specialised production equipment, including stringers and automatic layup machines.

Martin Ma, International Sales Director at ConfirmWare PV Manufacturing Solutions, said We’ve worked closely with Indian manufacturers to tailor global production technologies to local requirements. This partnership aims to enhance module manufacturing processes.

To support implementation, ‘Bergen Solar Power and Energy Limited’, with prior project experience with ConfirmWare, will handle on-site execution and integration for the upcoming manufacturing units.

Speaking on the partnership, Hanish Gupta, Founder and Managing Director of Sunkind India, noted “This collaboration isn’t just about adding capacity. It is about integrating the right processes and the latest technology.” 

His statement reflects the company’s focus on combining manufacturing expansion with process excellence and innovation.

To support manufacturing, Sunkind will combine automation with the engagement of a skilled workforce, ensuring consistency and innovation, Virpal Yadav, Director and COO of Sunkind, stated.

According to the company, the manufacturing model is expected to support system reliability and performance.

Aligning with the government’s goal to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy by 2030, this initiative aims to reduce India’s reliance on imported solar components and build a durable, self-sustaining energy infrastructure.
