NTPC Green Energy Commissions 91.6MW Solar Capacity At Ayana Kadapa Project

The new capacity in Kadapa district strengthens renewable power generation in Andhra Pradesh and supports the country’s clean energy transition.

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NTPC Green Energy) has announced the commercial commissioning of an additional 91.6 megawatts (MW) at the Ayana Kadapa solar project in Andhra Pradesh. The newly installed capacity has been synchronised with the regional grid and will begin supplying clean power under the company’s operational framework.

The commissioning process was completed in line with statutory norms, technical protocols for commercial operation, and relevant safety standards. Prior to integration, the facility underwent a series of testing and validation stages, including grid synchronisation and performance checks.

Located in the Kadapa district, the installation is part of the broader Ayana Kadapa solar development, which aims to expand renewable energy capacity in the region. The new addition is expected to support grid reliability and help offset fossil-fuel-based power generation by integrating with the existing transmission network.

Project execution involved coordination with state grid authorities to ensure timely power evacuation and regulatory approvals. The expansion aligns with national and corporate renewable energy goals while contributing to a more diversified power generation mix.

The additional output will help meet peak electricity demand and lower the carbon intensity of power supplied to the regional market. It also supports broader efforts to increase the share of renewables in India’s energy portfolio and strengthen local supply chains.

Operational responsibility for the plant will remain with the company, with routine operations and maintenance following established practices for large-scale solar installations. The commissioning phase also generated local employment and engaged contractors for site development and grid connectivity. Stakeholders noted that the project will contribute to local infrastructure development while supporting the state’s transition to cleaner energy sources.
