Fresh funding strengthens R2 Wireless’s push into the US, as its passive RF spectrum platform gains traction in both defence and commercial markets after deployments in Europe and the Middle East.
R2 Wireless, an Israel-based developer of passive radio-frequency (RF) spectrum-awareness technology, has raised more than $5 million in new funding, bringing its total capital raised to over $13 million.
The investment will support expansion in the United States (US), including engineering recruitment and new defence and commercial partnerships, following deployments in Europe and the Middle East.
The company’s Odin spectrum dominance platform passively monitors RF signals to detect, classify and geolocate transmissions from sources such as drones, mobile phones, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and unauthorised emitters.
According to R2, unlike conventional detection systems, Odin is designed to operate in congested and contested RF environments where anonymised threats are increasingly common.
R2 Wireless emphasised that the system provides visibility without transmitting signals, requiring permits or raising privacy concerns. The platform learns the RF environment in real time, enabling military, government and critical infrastructure operators to identify risks before responding.
The company’s recent agreements include a formal partnership with a NATO member nation’s Ministry of Defence and a strategic collaboration with a European energy infrastructure provider.
R2 was also named a winner in the US Army’s xTech Disrupt competition in the counter-unmanned aerial systems category.
The funding will allow R2 Wireless to strengthen its presence in the US market, expand its engineering capabilities and pursue further defence and commercial opportunities.
