$790 million Jewar projects boost India’s electronics, semiconductor ambitions

New manufacturing projects in Jewar are expected to strengthen India’s PCB ecosystem, cut import dependence, and support India’s semiconductor push.

India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem received a major boost with the launch of two new projects in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, involving a combined investment of $790 million according to Moneycontrol.

The projects were inaugurated by Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Yamuna City, Jewar. Together, they are expected to generate around 3,000 jobs and strengthen India’s domestic electronics supply chain.

The projects include a 32.5 billion advanced printed circuit board (PCB) facility by Ascent-K Circuit, a joint venture with South Korea’s KCC, focused on manufacturing high-density and multi-layer PCBs. Amber Enterprises will invest 35 billion to establish a facility for manufacturing HVAC components and PCB assemblies.

Vaishnaw said India currently imports PCBs worth nearly 400 billion annually, and domestic production would significantly reduce import dependence. “PCBs worth nearly ₹400 billion, which were earlier imported into the country, will now be manufactured domestically,” he said.

Calling Jewar the “Silicon Valley of North India,” Vaishnaw said the region is emerging as a major electronics and semiconductor manufacturing hub, supported by infrastructure such as Noida International Airport and the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor.

The projects align with India’s broader semiconductor strategy under the India Semiconductor Mission, which has approved 12 projects with a total investment pipeline of $19 billion.
