LAPP Expands Its Bhopal Facility

The investment comes as India continues to increase spending on infrastructure, manufacturing and energy projects.

LAPP has inaugurated the expanded manufacturing facility of LAPP Cable Works in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, making it the largest manufacturing facility in the company’s global production network.

As part of the expansion, LAPP has commissioned a new state-of-the-art facility dedicated to Power Low Voltage (LV) cable manufacturing. Construction of the unit began in 2025, and the facility has now become fully operational.

The new Power LV cable unit is aimed at serving growing demand from factories, commercial buildings, transportation systems, renewable energy projects, utilities and other industrial applications. The investment comes as India continues to increase spending on infrastructure, manufacturing and energy projects.

According to LAPP, infrastructure investments across India are estimated to reach approximately ₹24 lakh crore over the current and next financial year, while renewable-energy capacity additions are projected at 50–55 GW annually, supporting demand for power and connectivity solutions.

“Ultimately, this investment is about our customers. Following our ‘in India for India’ strategy, we are improving our capabilities to support their growth with locally manufactured, high-quality connectivity solutions. We deeply believe in India as a strategic core market for LAPP in Asia and Madhya Pradesh as a manufacturing location,” said Matthias Lapp, CEO, LAPP Group.

LAPP has been expanding its Bhopal operations since the facility was established in 2012. The plant initially focused on single-core cable production and has since added multicore cable manufacturing, solar cable production, compounding capabilities and E-Beam technology.

The facility currently supports more than 200 quality manufacturing jobs and houses some of LAPP’s most advanced manufacturing technologies globally.

The plant’s in-house polymer compounding capabilities allow LAPP to develop and produce advanced polymer blends, giving the company greater control over cable quality, consistency and performance. Its E-Beam technology modifies cable materials at the molecular level to improve durability, thermal resistance and long-term reliability in demanding industrial applications.

The expansion also strengthens LAPP’s localisation strategy in India, allowing the company to manufacture products closer to customers while supporting the country’s growing infrastructure and energy requirements.

The inauguration comes during LAPP India’s 30th anniversary year, marking another milestone in the company’s presence in the country. India is now LAPP’s largest market after Germany and is considered a key growth market for the group in Asia.

The company’s relationship with India also extends beyond its business operations. LAPP Group CEO Matthias Lapp has travelled extensively across India since childhood, while former LAPP CEO Andreas Lapp has served as Honorary Consul of the Republic of India in two German states since 2000.
