Nexperia, Tata Electronics partner for wafer fabrication, chip assembly and technology development

For Tata Electronics, the partnership adds a global semiconductor product company to the ecosystem

Nexperia has recently announced a collaboration with Tata Electronics for wafer fabrication, semiconductor assembly and test, technology collaboration, and ecosystem development in India.

This collaboration will create long-term manufacturing capabilities and strengthen semiconductor supply-chain resilience.

Under this deal, companies are laying the groundwork to produce Nexperia’s MOSFET portfolio at Tata Electronics’ upcoming 300mm semiconductor fab in Dholera, Gujarat.

The partnership will also cover the assembly and testing of Nexperia’s discrete semiconductor products at Tata Electronics’ semiconductor packaging facility in Jagiroad, Assam. The collaboration is expected to provide scalable manufacturing pathways and greater flexibility across Nexperia’s supply chain.

Beyond manufacturing, Nexperia and Tata Electronics will collaborate on technology development, research and ecosystem-building initiatives. The companies plan to combine Nexperia’s expertise in discrete, power and analog semiconductors with Tata Electronics’ expanding semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.

“This collaboration represents much more than manufacturing,” said Achim Kempe, Chief Operations Officer, Nexperia, adding that the partnership is intended to support innovation, growth and supply resilience across the semiconductor value chain.

Stefan Tilger, interim CEO, Nexperia, said the collaboration brings together complementary strengths in technology, manufacturing and innovation while supporting the development of semiconductor capabilities in India.

For Tata Electronics, the partnership adds a global semiconductor product company to the ecosystem being developed around its Dholera and Jagiroad facilities. The collaboration also aligns with the growing technology and trade relationship between India and the European Union.

“We are thrilled to partner with Nexperia for manufacturing their products at our semiconductor facilities in Dholera and Jagiroad,” said Dr Randhir Thakur, CEO and Managing Director, Tata Electronics.

Tata Electronics is developing a 300mm semiconductor fab in Dholera and a semiconductor assembly and test facility in Jagiroad, with the two projects representing a combined investment of about $14 billion, according to the company.

The Nexperia partnership is part of a broader set of collaborations Tata Electronics has announced around its semiconductor projects, covering areas including advanced packaging, semiconductor materials, infrastructure, design, research and talent development.
