Monday, December 22, 2014: The progress of Andhra Pradesh government’s plans to set up 2500MW capacity solar parks in the State has been reviewed by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and the World Bank. Tarun Kapoor, joint secretary, MNRE and a representative of the World Bank and State Energy Department officials had participated in the review meeting.
The state government has signed a pact with the Power Ministry and MNRE to set up large solar parks at Anantapur, Kadapa and Kurnool districts of the state. It has also signed a deal with NTPC Limited and Solar Energy Corporation of India to set up the solar parks. AP Energy Secretary, Ajay Jain updated the MNRE and the World Bank teams about the progress made so far via a detailed presentation given. He even emphasised upon the state’s keenness to implement the project by next year.
As per the statement from the Government, the World Bank had initially agreed upon releasing Rs. 1,250 million for the proposed projects and Rs. 3250 million will be sanctioned by march 2015 to enable state government to develop necessary evacuation line for the proposed solar parks.
