Spain’s wind power firm Gamesa, has said that it has deployed 58 MW of photo voltaic (PV) solar energy in the country. The companies PV facilities are located in Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Uttarakhand. For all of the projects, Gamesa provided engineering and design services, inverter delivery, as well as installation and commissioning of the plants.
Gamesa is one of the many multinational companies who have made their entry into this country considering the huge potential it has for solar energy. The government wants to deploy 100 GW of solar energy in this country by the year 2022 under the National Solar Mission. The national solar mission initially had a target of 20 GW by 2022. India’s solar potential has been estimated at about 750 GW.
So far, Gamesa has commissioned a total of 12 MW of solar capacity in the Asian nation. Its expansion on the Indian solar market aligns with its goal to explore opportunities in businesses that complement the wind industry, the firm explained.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is ensuring that all the states are deploying solar power to its potential so that the country can meet its target.
