According to a report by the Economic Times, Slovak telecom operator Orange Slovensko has selected Nokia to build the country’s 5G access network (RAN) capacity. The report added that Orange network will use Nokia’s 5G New Radio (5G NR)-based AirScale hardware and software for the 5G frequency bands.
The report added that Nokia will also provide NetAct management system and advanced automation and efficiency tools. A statement said that the deal will support Orange Slovensko in the evolution of its recently-developed AirScale-based 4G network. This will be done by activating 5G in existing bands through software upgrades

The statement also said that the new deal will cater to Orange Slovensko’s consumer and enterprise segment. It will allow them access to new upcoming innovative 5G services. The report added that Federico Colom, CEO of Orange Slovensko said that the company has been working with Nokia on new radio technology innovation for a long time. This tie-up will take the next step towards launching next-generation mobile services. This will be done by using a recently modernized 5G-ready Radio Access Network. He added that this will give the company a significant competitive advantage in the long run.
As per the report, Tommi Uitto, President Mobile Networks Nokia, said that the company’s technology will help Orange Slovensko to smoothly transition towards 5G. It will deliver a superior experience for businesses and consumers and allow them to unlock the future potential of 5G.
