Owing to regional growth with the Americas leading, global semiconductor sales reached $56.9B in October 2024, marking a 22.1% YoY increase, reportedly recording highest-ever monthly sales.

Semiconductor sales reached $56.9 billion worldwide in October 2024, marking a 22.1% year-over-year (YoY) increase from $46.6 billion in October 2023. According to a Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) report, this figure also marked a 2.8% rise from September 2024 ($55.3 billion).

Globally, regional sales showed varying growth patterns. According to the report, the Americas saw the highest YoY increase of 54.0%, rising from $12.13 billion to $18.67 billion. In contrast, Europe experienced a 7.0% decrease YoY, falling from $4.82 billion to $4.48 billion. On the other hand, Japan grew YoY by 7.4%, from $3.93 billion to $4.22 billion, while China showed a 17.0% YoY increase, moving from $13.84 billion to $16.20 billion. Compared to the last month’s performance, the Americas led the sales with an 8.3% rise, from $17.24 billion in September to $18.67 billion in October. Europe saw a modest growth of 1.3%, from $4.43 billion to $4.48 billion, while Japan experienced an even slight 0.2% increase, moving from $4.21 billion to $4.22 billion. China sales rose by 1%, from $16.04 billion to $16.20 billion, but the Asia Pacific/All Other regions saw a small decline of 0.7%, falling from $13.40 billion to $13.30 billion.

Looking at the three-month moving average, which includes May through October 2024, total semiconductor sales increased by 10.8%, from $51.34 billion to $56.88 billion.

Looking at this trend, John Neuffer, SIA president and CEO, commented, “The global semiconductor market is closing out 2024 on a high note, as the industry reached its highest-ever monthly sales total in October and month-to-month sales increased for the seventh consecutive month.”

The World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organisation, backed by SIA, now predicts that global semiconductor sales will grow by 19% in 2024, reaching $626.9 billion. It has been highlighted that in 2025, the sales are expected to reach $697.2 billion, reflecting an 11.2% YoY growth.

Neuffer further noted, “Total annual sales are now projected to increase by nearly 20% in 2024—higher than earlier forecasts—and then continue to grow by double-digits in 2025.”
