  • The company is expanding and has enlarged its facility to 4,800 square feet and plans to increase the workforce to 30 by the end of this month.

Development board manufacturer ADIY, a subsidiary of Rajguru Electronics, aims to install five SMT (surface-mount technology) lines at its Bengaluru facility by the end of 2025, with the second one scheduled to become operational by the end of November 2023. It will also install a wave soldering unit and the new SMT line.

In an exclusive interview with EFY, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Rajguru, Dileep Jain, said, “The new SMT line, which will become operational by the end of this month, will increase our ADIY board production to one crore rupees per month when utilised at total capacity.

Currently, the company operates with only one SMT line, producing ADIY boards valued at ₹30-40 lakhs and running at 60%-70% capacity. “In the past six months, we achieved ₹3 crores in production, and by the end of this financial year, we expect it to rise to ₹8-₹9 crores,” revealed Jain.

The new SMT line is equipped with the Neoden N8 pick-and-place machine, featuring eight simultaneous pick-up heads and a placement speed of 16,000 CPH (components per hour). Neoden India is headquartered in Hangzhou, China and distributes its products through Bengaluru-based ChipMax Designs Pvt Ltd in India.

ADIY is also eyeing global markets to sell its boards. In addition to two e-commerce websites, the company has partnered with the Chinese e-commerce platform Alibaba for product sales. Jain mentioned that the company is engaged in high-level discussions with a Chinese counterpart regarding the manufacturing of power and WiFi modules.

“We have already established significant partnerships in Nepal. We have provided our development kits to educational institutions in Nepal, including the University of Kathmandu to promote innovation and learning. We are looking to expand our presence in South Asia and the Middle-Eastern markets,” he added.

The company has expanded its office space from one floor spanning over 2,500 square feet to three floors occupying 4,800 square feet. “The SMT lines and deep soldering units will be installed on two separate floors while the packaging, testing and cleaning will happen on a third floor,” Jain added.

As part of its expansion efforts, Rajguru currently employs 20 individuals at its manufacturing unit, with plans to expand this number to 30 by the end of the current month.
