By Alpa Thoudam

The 36th ELCINA-EFY Awards (2010-2011) presentation ceremony for excellence in various areas of electronics, ranging from R&D and exports to entrepreneurship, was held on September 15, 2011, at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. Last year, ELCINA (Electronic Industries Association of India) had partnered with the Electronics For You (EFY) Group to promote the country’s oldest and most valued awards for the electronics industry.

Dr R Chidambaram, principal scientific adviser to the Government of India and DAE-Homi Bhabha professor, was the honourable chief guest at the event.

Every year, the ELCINA-EFY Awards are given to recognise extraordinary achievements in the field of exports, R&D, quality, environment management, business excellence and entrepreneurial excellence.

This year’s ‘Electronics Man of the Year’ award went to Sanjay Nayak, CEO and managing director, Tejas Networks Ltd, Bengaluru, for his pioneering work in turning Tejas Networks into a high technology telecommunications company with a difference. Under his leadership, Tejas has been recognised in India as well as globally, as a leading technology company.

However, our best award is our customers’ trust in the quality of our products. It is our customers’ goodwill and our sincerity towards them that has helped us reach this level.”

A delighted JK Dhawan, general manager of Conformity India, said, “We are proud and happy to be honoured with the award of excellence in ‘Quality’.
