Wednesday, January 22, 2014: Amara Raja Batteries Limited group that belongs to the Galla family has extended its business base by launching the world’s largest integrated medium VRLA plant at Nunegundlapalli near Chittoor on Sunday. The first factory set up in the 500 acre of land, was set up with an outlay of Rs 3500 million and was inaugurated on Sunday. The plant has an employment generation capacity of 1,500 and can manufacture 3.5 million UPS batteries each year as per ARBL managing director, Galla Ramachandra Naidu.
As stated on newindianexpress.com, he stressed that “The second plant is under construction and two more plants, one for tubular and other for plastic, will soon commence operations. The second unit, with an outlay of Rs 3500 million, would provide jobs to another 1,500 people.”
Naidu said that post completion of all the plants, the company will offer jobs to nearly 20,000 people. The ABRL vice-chairman and managing director Galla Jayadev stated that the UPS batteries meet the need of industries and can be utilised domestically too.
He opined that Chittoor is a good location for development of industries. Everybody feels that Chittoor is not viable as it is far away from the capital, Hyderabad. However, it is a strategic location located three hours away from Chennai and Bangalore. Jayadev stated that economic development will bring a rise in commercial activity at the place and also nearby towns. Due to our Karakambadi plant, that is offering employment to 17,000 persons, the local economy has seen a rise by 30 per cent in Tirupati. In a similar way, with a potential of 30,000 here, Chittoor town and nearby villages will develop.
