Aiming for massive employment and a self-reliant India, Dixon Technologies partners with Nokia to manufacture broadband devices in to meet rising demand for FTTH and 5G FWA.
Indian electronics manufacturing service company Dixon Technologies has partnered with telecom giant Nokia to produce fixed broadband devices in India. According to a joint statement by the firms, this aims to meet the growing demand for fixed broadband, driven by the rapid adoption of fibre to the home (FTTH) and 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) technologies.
As a part of the venture, Dixon Electro, a subsidiary of Dixon Technologies, has set up a manufacturing facility in Noida, which can produce up to 10 million devices annually. These devices will include GPON, 5G FWA, and Mesh Wi-Fi products capable of delivering speeds of up to one gigabit per second per home.
Nokia’s Chennai-based R&D Centre will oversee the design and development of the devices, while Dixon Electro will manage large-scale production.
Furthermore, the collaboration is expected to create around 3,000 new jobs and contribute to the local economy. Nokia, a leader in broadband infrastructure, is already a significant supplier of FTTH equipment in India, supporting over half of the country’s FTTH infrastructure.
Commenting on the matter, Atul B. Lall, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Dixon Technologies, added, “Our partnership with Nokia represents a milestone in India’s manufacturing sector, supporting the vision of a self-reliant India. This collaboration empowers us to bring best-in-class devices to the market while boosting job creation and economic growth at the local level.”
“India’s broadband landscape is evolving at an extraordinary pace, and we are proud to contribute to this transformation,” said Sandy Motley, VP, Fixed networks at Nokia, aiming to leverage their expertise in FTTH and FWA technologies.
Dixon Technologies reported a revenue of ₹64.11 billion for FY24 and operates 23 facilities across India, serving more than 100 clients.
