DRDO has partnered with Bharat Dynamics Limited and Adani Defence Systems & Technologies Limited for missile development and production activities
Defence Research and Development Organisation has successfully completed the final deliverable configuration development trials of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Launched Precision Guided Missile (ULPGM)-V3 in both Air-to-Ground and Air-to-Air modes at its test range near Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.
The trials were conducted using an integrated Ground Control System (GCS), designed to command and control the ULPGM weapon system. According to DRDO, the GCS incorporates advanced automation technologies for operational readiness and launch management.
The ULPGM-V3 has been developed for multiple combat roles, including anti-tank operations and engagement of airborne targets such as drones and helicopters. The missile was integrated with UAV platforms developed by Newspace Research and Technologies for the current round of trials.
DRDO has partnered with Bharat Dynamics Limited and Adani Defence Systems & Technologies Limited for missile development and production activities.
The missile programme was led by Research Centre Imarat in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories, including Defence Research and Development Laboratory, Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory, and High Energy Materials Research Laboratory.
DRDO stated that the missile has been developed entirely within the Indian defence ecosystem with contributions from MSMEs and industry partners, validating a fully mature domestic supply chain ready for serial mass production.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, defence PSUs, production partners, and industry stakeholders for the successful trials, describing the achievement as a major milestone towards self-reliance in defence manufacturing under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
DRDO Chairman and Secretary, Department of Defence R&D, Samir V Kamat also congratulated the teams associated with the programme for the successful development trials.
