This transaction represents one of the biggest commercial purchases of Volvo electric trucks so far. It aligns with DSV’s strategy to integrate 2,000 electric trucks into its fleet by 2030.
Volvo Trucks and the global logistics company DSV have entered into a cooperation agreement to supply 300 electric heavy trucks, marking one of the largest commercial orders Volvo has received for its electric trucks. This order positions DSV as one of the largest operators of heavy electric trucks in Europe. The trucks for DSV will feature the new Volvo FH Aero Electric model, which is noted for its enhanced aerodynamics and increased energy efficiency.
DSV is rapidly advancing towards a sustainable future in transportation, with over 20,000 trucks daily transporting goods globally. A rising number of these will be electric or powered by renewable fuels. In collaboration with Volvo Trucks, DSV is planning the deployment of these 300 zero-emission electric trucks across its European operations, contributing to its goal of incorporating 2,000 electric trucks into its fleet by 2030.
Additionally, the agreement includes the purchase of 500 Volvo trucks equipped with highly efficient diesel and gas drivelines scheduled for delivery between 2024 and 2026.
Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, expressed pride in deepening the partnership with DSV. He emphasised the significance of collaboration for substantial CO2 reductions and sustainable transport. He highlighted this order as evidence of DSV’s confidence in Volvo and the practicality of zero-emission transport solutions.
Soren Schmidt, CEO of DSV Road, emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration to combat climate change and praised the extended partnership with Volvo as a critical step in reducing emissions within the transport sector. He noted this deal as a prime example of how new technologies can be scaled to enhance accessibility for customers, supporting the green transition in trucking.
DSV, the largest goods transporter for the Volvo Group, already operates Volvo electric trucks in Sweden and Denmark, supported by a charging infrastructure powered by solar panels at its distribution centres in these countries. Both DSV and Volvo Group adhere to the Science-based Targets initiative, aligning their ambitious climate actions with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
Since 2019, Volvo Trucks has delivered over 3,800 electric trucks to clients in 46 countries. Volvo’s diverse electric product line includes eight models designed for various applications, from urban distribution and waste management to regional haulage and construction. Volvo’s electric trucks have accumulated over 90 million kilometres in operation, equivalent to circling the globe 2,200 times.
