These investments support innovation, localization, and supply chain growth to meet the rising demand in India’s expanding electronics sector.

Henkel has announced the launch of an Application Engineering Center in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, strengthening its role in the electronics sector. The company will also establish an adhesive materials manufacturing plant at its multi-technology site in Kurkumbh, near Pune. These investments support localization, innovation, and product development to meet the changing needs of the electronics industry in the region. With India’s electronics sector set for rapid growth, driven by government initiatives like Make in India and the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, Henkel’s expanded presence will help meet increasing demand.

“As India grows as a global electronics manufacturing hub, Henkel remains committed to supporting this journey,” said S Sunil Kumar, Country President – India, Henkel. “The new facilities in Chennai and Kurkumbh align with this expansion, strengthening regional supply chains and self-sufficiency. This step allows us to better serve our customers and contribute to the industry’s growth.”
The 17,000 sq. ft. Chennai facility, located in a key electronics manufacturing region, will help accelerate new product introductions and reduce time-to-market. It includes five specialized labs focused on adhesive solutions and thermal management materials for smartphones, wearables, and other consumer electronics. The center is equipped with dispensing systems, waterproofing technologies, and material analysis tools for rapid prototyping and product validation. This investment adds to Henkel’s global innovation network, complementing facilities in Germany, the US, China, Singapore, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam.
Wen Zhou, Corporate Vice President – Electronics, Henkel Adhesive Technologies, emphasized the company’s focus on meeting customer needs. “Henkel operates where our customers are,” said Wen. “With growing electronics production in India, we are enhancing local capabilities for faster collaboration on new product introductions and validation.”
The new Kurkumbh plant will expand Henkel’s production of adhesive and coating solutions, supporting localization and the evolving electronics market. It will integrate an Industry 4.0-based smart factory system to improve efficiency and product quality while reducing downtime.
