Entegris Eyes Key Role in Tata Electronics’ Dholera Chip Fab 

Entegris is evaluating a larger India presence as it looks to support Tata Electronics’ semiconductor fabrication facility and the country’s growing chip ecosystem. 

U.S.-based semiconductor materials company Entegris is expected to support Tata Electronics’ upcoming semiconductor fabrication facility in Dholera, Gujarat, by supplying critical high-purity chemicals and advanced process materials required for chip manufacturing.

The partnership is expected to strengthen the supply chain for Tata Electronics’ fab, which is being developed in collaboration with Taiwan’s Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. (PSMC) under the India Semiconductor Mission. The facility is expected to manufacture chips for sectors including automotive, consumer electronics, industrial applications and power management.

Semiconductor fabrication requires ultra-pure chemicals, filtration systems and contamination-control technologies to maintain precision during production. As India builds its domestic semiconductor ecosystem, securing reliable suppliers for these essential materials has become a key priority.

Entegris is reportedly evaluating opportunities to expand its presence in India to serve the country’s growing semiconductor industry. A local footprint would help reduce supply chain risks, improve access to critical materials and support the long-term needs of chip manufacturers setting up operations in the country.

The move comes as India seeks to create a complete semiconductor value chain, extending beyond fabrication to include equipment, specialty materials and chemical suppliers. Encouraging global companies to establish manufacturing and supply operations locally is a key part of the government’s strategy to reduce import dependence and strengthen domestic capabilities.

For Tata Electronics, access to a dependable supply of high-purity chemicals is expected to improve manufacturing resilience and support the smooth operation of the Dholera fab once production begins. Industry experts believe such partnerships are essential, as semiconductor plants rely on uninterrupted access to specialty materials to maintain yield and product quality.

If the collaboration moves forward, it would mark another step in the development of India’s semiconductor ecosystem, reinforcing the country’s efforts to attract global suppliers while supporting the growth of domestic chip manufacturing.
