Foxconn, formerly known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, is a key AI server maker of Nvidia and is banking on AI infrastructure for future growth.
Major electronic contract manufacturer Foxconn’s Chairman young Liu said on Friday that he met OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman the other day, signalling a collaboration between the two companies. The announcement will follow, once the details are confirmed, Liu added.
The potential deal may expand on the 2023 agreement between the two firms, focused on developing, engineering data-centre racks and other AI hardware. Foxconn, formerly known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, is a key AI server maker of Nvidia and is banking on AI infrastructure for future growth.
Liu dismissed stock market concerns about a bubble in the AI industry and said that the company will maintain a double digit growth next year. Cloud and networking products, including AI servers, contributed to 51 per cent to Foxconn’s second quarter revenue. The company builds AI servers for six Nvidia factories in Houston, Texas and is looking for further expansion in the area, according to Liu.
