Gradiant names India MD, wins five water-treatment contracts across chip, PCB, solar sectors

The company expects the growing project pipeline in India to drive further hiring, particularly for engineering and project execution roles.

Water technology company Gradiant has announced a series of India milestones, including the appointment of a new Managing Director, five new design-build contracts across semiconductor, PCB, and solar manufacturing, and plans to expand its India workforce by more than 40% this year.

Gradiant has appointed Hari Prasad as Managing Director, India, where he will lead the company’s growth across the semiconductor, data centre, and energy sectors. Prasad brings nearly 30 years of experience in water technology and most recently served as General Manager, Industrial Water at Pentair. He has also held senior roles across India, the Middle East, and Africa.

The five new contracts cover semiconductor, electronics, and clean energy manufacturing. One of the awards is a repeat order from a global chipmaker for the expansion of its fabrication facility.

Under the contracts, Gradiant will provide ultrapure water, wastewater treatment, and zero liquid discharge (ZLD) systems. These solutions are aimed at helping manufacturers maintain production while complying with India’s discharge regulations.

According to Gradiant, customers selected the company based on its water-recovery capabilities, ZLD performance, and execution speed.

The company is also expanding its India workforce across engineering, project execution, operations, and digital roles. Its Gradiant Engineering Center in Coimbatore will support projects in India as well as the company’s global operations.

“India is fast becoming one of the most important places to build the AI supply chain, from chips to circuit boards to solar cells,” said Prakash Govindan, CEO, Gradiant. “When a chipmaker comes back to us for its next expansion, that is the strongest endorsement we can get.”

Gradiant said India is becoming a key manufacturing hub for semiconductors, electronics, and clean energy, increasing the importance of water availability, reliability, and ZLD compliance alongside power and land availability.

“Our orders in India are on track to more than double this year, with revenue set to more than triple,” said Hari Prasad, Managing Director, Gradiant India. “A fab or a solar plant can’t run a single shift without water, and the ZLD rules here leave no room for shortcuts.”

The company expects the growing project pipeline in India to drive further hiring, particularly for engineering and project execution roles.
