Hikvision Launches Ultra HD 32 MP Panoramic Camera for Large Spaces

Due to its broad field of view, the new camera is suitable for large, open areas like plazas, stadiums, industrial facilities and entertainment venues

Hikvision, a leading global company offering innovative video surveillance solutions, has launched an ultra HD 32 MP panoramic camera, in its range of PanoVu cameras, that is specifically designed for organisations with larger outdoor areas.

The latest 32 MP PanoVu Series Panoramic Dome Camera by Hikvision utilises four ½” Progressive Scan CMOS (complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor) sensors to provide a true 180-degree horizontal panorama view and also a vertical field of view of 95 degrees. The camera itself stitch together the four video images, which results in a single, seamless panoramic image.

Ideal for open areas

Due to its broad field of view, the new camera is suitable for large, open areas like plazas, stadiums, industrial facilities and entertainment venues. The single camera can cover an entire area, which previously needed multiple cameras, thus reducing IP channels. The camera is easy to install and configure and is potentially more cost-effective.

Speaking about the launch, Frank Zhang, General Manager of the International Product Marketing Department, Hikvision, said, “We are very excited to add this state-of-the-art high definition camera to the award-winning PanoVu family. Organisations with large outdoor areas are continually looking for innovative ways to monitor and protect their premises. Our 32 MP camera gives them some of the most remarkable panoramic and HD monitoring features they’ll find on the market.”

The DS-2CD6984G0-IH(S)(AC) camera provides excellent HD, with maximum resolution of 8160 × 3616 pixels. The 32 MP image resolution of the camera at 30 fps delivers seamless video image preview and playback.

Key features

The latest camera is incorporated with four embedded infra-red LEDs and low illumination capability. This enables the camera in continuously delivering high definition panoramic video even in low-light conditions and under 0 lux conditions, up to a range of 20 metre.

In addition, the ultra HD 32 MP panoramic camera has a series of display modes to suit the needs of users. Besides the standard 32 MP panorama view, the users have the option of choosing the output in 8 MP resolution to fit into a corresponding network video recorder. The camera can provide four, 8 MP standalone images from each lens, or four images in divided panorama view.
