IBM has teamed up with OpenAI to integrate advanced AI into enterprise cybersecurity, helping businesses detect threats and fix software vulnerabilities faster.
IBM has partnered with Open AI to bring advanced AI capabilities into enterprise security operations, as companies increasingly look for faster ways to tackle evolving cyber threats.
According to Reuters, IBM said the partnership will integrate OpenAI’s frontier AI models into enterprise security workflows to help businesses identify risks, increase threat detection, and strengthen cybersecurity response.
Following the announcement, IBM shares rose 3.6% in after-hours trading.
As part of the collaboration, IBM has joined OpenAI’s Daybreak Cyber Partner Program and launched a new application security service that uses OpenAI’s cyber capabilities to identify and validate software vulnerabilities with greater speed and accuracy.
The offering is built on Project Lightwell, an initiative launched last month to deploy AI tools and engineers to help businesses secure open-source software. The project is backed by a $5 billion investment commitment from IBM and Reuters reported.
Project Lightwell will also use OpenAI’s cyber models alongside other advanced AI systems for code review and remediation.
“The OpenAI Daybreak Cyber Partner Program expands our access to a broader set of advanced AI capabilities, helping us surface the most relevant risks faster and help clients act with confidence,” said Mark Hughes, global managing partner, cybersecurity services at IBM Consulting.
The partnership reflects growing demand for AI-driven cybersecurity tools as enterprises face increasingly complex digital threats.
