Admissions for the first batch are expected to open soon.
IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation has partnered with Maven Silicon to introduce specialised training programs aimed at working professionals in the semiconductor domain. These programs are designed to help engineers upskill while continuing their careers, focusing on core technologies critical to the industry.
Aligned with the vision of India Semiconductor Mission 2.0, the initiative aims to strengthen India’s semiconductor talent pool and support the country’s ambition to become a global hub for chip design and innovation.
The two nine-month Professional Certification Programs—‘VLSI Design and Verification’ and ‘Embedded Systems Design’—will combine structured online coursework, hands-on lab sessions, and industry-focused capstone projects. Participants who successfully complete the programs will receive a joint certification from IITM Pravartak and Maven Silicon. Admissions for the first batch are expected to open soon.
India’s semiconductor market, currently valued at around $52 billion (FY2024–25), is projected to grow to $100–110 billion by 2030, driven by a CAGR of 10–13%. With India already contributing nearly 20% of global semiconductor design talent, demand for skilled professionals in VLSI and embedded systems is expected to rise significantly.
Commenting on the initiative, Dr. Shankar Raman emphasised the organisation’s focus on building high-quality talent in Cyber-Physical Systems and related fields. He noted that the programs offer an accessible pathway for professionals to gain expertise in critical semiconductor technologies aligned with industry and national priorities.
P. R. Sivakumar highlighted that India is at a crucial stage in its semiconductor journey, stressing the importance of developing job-ready talent for real-world chip design environments. He added that the collaboration delivers a structured, hands-on learning experience tailored for working professionals.
IIT Madras-hosted IITM Pravartak operates as a Section 8 company under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems, focusing on sensors, networking, actuators, and control systems. Meanwhile, Maven Silicon, with over 17 years of experience, has trained more than 5,000 professionals now working across leading global semiconductor firms.
The VLSI program will cover advanced digital design concepts, SystemVerilog, UVM-based verification, and industry-standard EDA tools, while the Embedded Systems course will focus on processor architectures, real-time systems, embedded C, and system-level design—equipping professionals with skills needed for next-generation semiconductor development.
