Crediting the success of government policies and domestic manufacturing capabilities, India’s electronics exports rose 35.11% to $3.58 billion in December 2024, highest in past two years.
As per a recent data released by the union commerce ministry, India’s electronics exports surged by 35.11% to reach US$3.58 billion in December 2024, marking the highest monthly shipment figures in the past two years.
The data has applauded the expanding strength of India’s electronics manufacturing industry behind this growth, bolstered by government initiatives, increased global demand, and growing domestic production capabilities.
In a report by the Economic Times, the Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal highlighted the steady rise in engineering and electronics exports, noting that December’s performance was a record high for electronics shipments.
Since the beginning of 2024, electronics exports have demonstrated consistent growth. In October and November alone, these shipments recorded values of US$3.43 billion and US$3.47 billion, respectively. Additionally, engineering and pharmaceutical exports have also shown positive momentum, with pharmaceutical shipments rising by 0.63% to US$2.49 billion in December.
Engineering exports, which contribute approximately 25% to India’s total outbound trade, climbed by 8.35% to reach US$84 billion over the past year. Quarterly export figures have also set new benchmarks, with shipments during October–December 2024–25 hitting US$208 billion, compared to US$193.4 billion in the same period the previous year.
During a media briefing, Barthwal specifically emphasised that electronic goods exports reached their highest level so far in a single month in December 2024.
