The state plans to strengthen economic engagement with Hong Kong by promoting investments in semiconductors, electronics, startups and advanced manufacturing.
Karnataka is looking to increase investment ties with Hong Kong as it looks to attract global capital into its electronics, semiconductor and startup ecosystem.
According to The Hindu Business Line , Large and Medium Industries Minister M.B. Patil said the state is expanding its engagement with Hong Kong across electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM), semiconductors, fintech, biotechnology, clean mobility and advanced manufacturing. Karnataka also plans to showcase its strengths in chip design, electronics, IoT and startups to investors, venture funds and technology platforms based in Hong Kong.
The Hindu Business Line reported that Patil met Rajesh Narayan, Consul General of India to Hong Kong and Macau, to discuss ways to expand economic partnerships and attract more investments into Karnataka.
Highlighting the strength of the relationship, Patil noted that bilateral trade between India and Hong Kong stood at US$ 25.81 billion in 2024-25.
To build on this momentum, Karnataka has proposed a state-focused investment roundtable and a dedicated facilitation desk through the Consulate General of India in Hong Kong to support investor outreach and business delegations.
“The initiative aims to channel international capital from Hong Kong’s financial institutions and family offices into Karnataka’s technology ecosystem,” Patil said.
The state government believes stronger engagement with Hong Kong will help attract investments into chip design, electronics, startups and innovation-driven manufacturing, while reinforcing Karnataka’s position as one of India’s leading destinations for high-technology industries.
