Tuesday, January 07, 2014: Indian Prime Minister is of the opinion that the revival of software technology parks in tier 2 and tier 3 cities will be in the interest of the country. He shared it at a Group of Technology Companies (GTech) meeting held at Raj Bhavan. From various records, it has come to scanner that these IT hubs are influencing the tax payment scheme of India, making it an important factor.
The representatives here gave an account of the importance of IT hubs in the tier 2 and 3 cities for economical development of the country. They mentioned that by improving the IT hubs in these cities, more employment opportunities will be created and the country will see a dawn in the financial growth. “The Prime Minister assured the GTech representatives that the Centre would seriously examine the issue,” reported Hindu Business Line.
At the meeting, it was also discussed how the growth of the industry has gone down from 25 per cent in 2011 to 10.4 per cent in 2013. The Centre can assist by providing adequate policy support, but the industry will also have to address few issues in order to reform the business model.
Chairman of GTech, V.K. Mathews said that 90 per cent of the IT exports come from units located in the seven tier-1 cities.
Anoop P. Ambika, secretary of GTech told HBL, “Restoration of the scheme will go a long way in decongesting large cities as growth and development will be distributed to rural areas. Rural employment opportunities will be enhanced and digital divide reduced, paving the way for promoting inclusive growth across the country.”
