Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has signed two crucial Projects, Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) – Ramgarh II Transmission Limited and Beawar Dausa Transmission Limited.
These acquisitions represent a major advancement in the Transmission System Projects designed to transport power from the Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) in Rajasthan, with a substantial target of 20 GW capacity in Phase-III, Part C1, and Part H.
POWERGRID emerged as the winning bidder in a tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process, surpassing various private sector competitors.
Ramgarh II Transmission Limited is responsible for implementing a comprehensive transmission system, which includes a new 765/400kV substation at Ramgarh, a Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) at Ramgarh, a 765kV D/C transmission line, and related bay extension work at the existing substation (Bhadla-III) in Rajasthan.
The substation and transmission line components are expected to be operational within 18 months, while the STATCOM is anticipated to function within 24 months. This project aims to enable the transfer of 2.9 GW of renewable energy from the Ramgarh complex, distributing power to various beneficiaries on the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) network.
Beawar Dausa Transmission Limited involves the establishment of a new 765/400kV substation near Dausa, along with 400kV and 765kV D/C transmission lines spanning Rajasthan and associated bay extension work. This Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) project is slated to be commissioned within 18 months.
The primary goal is to facilitate the evacuation of 9.1 GW of renewable energy from the Fatehgarh complex through Fatehgarh-3 PS and Beawar S/S, enabling the onward power distribution to various beneficiaries on the ISTS network.
These two projects are set to play a substantial role in evacuating an impressive 12 GW of solar power through state-of-the-art transmission lines in the state of Rajasthan. POWERGRID’s strategic acquisitions align seamlessly with the Government of India’s vision of achieving a 500 GW renewable energy target by 2030.
