This factory will utilize resources and expertise from both sides to develop and market energy storage products in Europe

Chinese lithium cell maker Pylon Technologies recently announced its plan to build its first overseas factory in Italy. This joint venture called Pylon LiFeEU will be co-owned by Pylontech EU, a company incorporated under Dutch law wholly owned by Pylontech, and Italian energy storage company, Energy. As per the press release, the factory will be based out of Energy’s existing plant in northern Italy. It mentioned that the plant would utilize resources and expertise from both sides to develop and market energy storage products in Europe, creating a new base for innovative energy storage solutions. The production of the cobalt-free lithium-iron-phosphate batteries will begin later this year.

Pylontech aims to produce and deliver energy storage solutions in a more stable and secure way for customers in Europe. Claiming of having commissioned over one million energy storage systems in multiple regions globally and rapidly growing, it believes that the establishment of the new factory will be another significant milestone. It is noteworthy that the two parties have been cooperating for ten years to promote renewable energy. As per sources, the partners will gradually construct a gigafactory in northern Italy, with an initial daily production capacity of 600–800 batteries.

Pylontech’s VP, Geoffrey Song commented, “It’s an important step for Pylontech to set localized production as our partners, especially in Europe are eager to have a more secure and stable supply chain. We picked up Veneto as the starting place which enjoys both long-time wisdom from Galilei and fresh friendship from Energy. I believe in the super bright future of the renewable energy industry in the EU by leveraging the global wisdom and local resources.”

Pylontech identifies as a dedicated battery energy storage system (BESS) provider by consolidating its expertise in electrochemistry, power electronics and system integration to deliver reliable energy storage solutions worldwide.

Claiming to have sold and installed over 53,000 systems across Italy, 2013-born Energy S.p.A. is a leading player in energy storage systems for both residential and large-scale applications sectors.
