Securing government support, Raptee.HV advances high-voltage electric motorcycles, becoming India’s first EV two-wheeler OEM funded by TDB.
Raptee.HV has become the first EV motorcycle manufacturer in India to secure strategic funding from the Technology Development Board (TDB), Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. The funding aims to support the company’s proprietary high-voltage (HV) technology, adapted from electric car architecture for two-wheelers.
The investment marks an endorsement of Raptee.HV’s research-driven approach to performance electric motorcycles and will accelerate the company’s development in the USD 1 billion performance electric motorcycle segment. Dinesh Arjun, CEO and Co-Founder, said the backing demonstrates the government’s support for indigenous technological innovation and strengthens the company’s efforts to advance high-voltage motorcycle architecture.
Raptee.HV previously received a grant from the Ministry of Heavy Industries through ARAI-AMTIF in 2021, further validating its focus on deep-tech innovation. With the latest support from TDB, the startup joins a select group of Indian innovators that have historically received the board’s backing, including the TATA Indica and Bharat Biotech’s COVID-19 vaccine.
The company has spent over six years developing its electric motorcycles from the ground up, rather than adapting existing platforms, making it the only manufacturer in India to integrate proven high-voltage car technology into two-wheelers. Raptee.HV motorcycles are designed to offer car-level performance, reliability, and charging convenience, aiming to redefine performance-driven electric mobility in India.
Given that motorcycles constitute nearly two-thirds of the country’s two-wheeler market, their electrification is considered essential to achieving India’s 2030 target of 30 per cent EV penetration in this segment. Raptee.HV’s approach emphasises leapfrog advancements over incremental upgrades to deliver high-performance electric motorcycles for domestic and international markets.
