Irida Labs’ software and tools will be integrated into Renesas 365
Renesas Electronics Corporation has completed the acquisition of Irida Labs, a Greece-based company specialising in embedded software for AI-powered visual perception systems.
This move will help Renesas to enhance its edge AI embedded processing offerings. It also enables system-level solutions that integrate physical AI and software to power camera and machine vision systems across industrial, robotics, smart city, IoT, agricultural and healthcare markets.
Irida Labs’ software and tools will be integrated into Renesas 365, a newly released platform that unifies electronics system development from discovery to development and lifecycle management.
As demand for intelligent edge systems rises, developers face challenges such as integrating power-efficient embedded processors, managing AI model deployment, and mitigating latency and security risks. By bringing Irida Labs’ lightweight Vision AI software and tool suite in-house, Renesas aims to simplify these processes. The combined offering leverages Renesas’ RA microcontrollers and RZ microprocessors with Irida Labs’ expertise to deliver high-performance, power-efficient edge AI solutions ready for rapid deployment.
