As India and Japan broaden economic security cooperation, semiconductor partnerships took centre stage, with ROHM’s India projects among initiatives highlighted during the bilateral forum.
ROHM Co., Ltd.’s semiconductor collaborations in India were highlighted during the India-Japan Joint Economic Forum held in New Delhi on July 2, 2026. This was during the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit, where the two nations expanded cooperation in economic security, advanced manufacturing and resilient supply chains.
The forum, organised alongside Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s official visit to India, was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior government officials and business leaders from both countries.
Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral collaboration in areas including semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), energy, critical technologies and manufacturing, reflecting a broader push to diversify supply chains and deepen industrial partnerships.
Representing ROHM, Dr Kazuhide Ino, managing executive officer of the company, participated in the forum. ROHM’s partnerships with Tata Electronics Private Limited and Suchi Semicon Pvt Ltd were included in the India-Japan Economic Security Cooperation Fact Sheet 2.0, which identifies industry projects supporting bilateral cooperation in the semiconductor sector.
During the summit, both governments adopted a joint roadmap on economic security and reaffirmed their commitment to building resilient supply chains while encouraging greater collaboration between businesses.
According to Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the forum provided a platform for government and industry representatives to discuss opportunities for expanding investment and technological cooperation.
ROHM added that it intends to continue working with partners in India to support semiconductor applications across automotive, industrial equipment and energy infrastructure.
