A new plant to be set up in Hosur to produce batteries and cooling solutions by Schneider Electric IT Business India Private Limited.
Schneider Electric Group has announced a major expansion in Tamil Nadu, pledging an investment of over ₹700 crore to strengthen its operations in the state and generate employment. The agreement was formalised with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government in the presence of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
The investment, totalling ₹7.18 billion, will support the expansion of Schneider Electric India Private Limited’s smart manufacturing facilities in Chennai and Coimbatore. Additionally, Schneider Electric IT Business India Private Limited will establish a new plant in Hosur dedicated to the production of batteries and advanced cooling solutions. The initiative is expected to create approximately 663 jobs, contributing to the state’s economic growth.
Schneider Electric emphasised that this expansion aligns with its commitment to sustainable and technologically advanced manufacturing. The new Hosur facility is designed to cater to growing market demand for batteries and cooling solutions, reflecting the company’s focus on innovation and smart energy solutions.
The state government welcomed the investment, highlighting its potential to strengthen Tamil Nadu’s industrial ecosystem and attract further foreign and domestic investment. The expansion of existing facilities in Chennai and Coimbatore, combined with the establishment of the Hosur plant, underscores Schneider Electric’s strategic focus on India as a key market for growth and technology development.
