Enabling cross-standard EV charging, Servotech Renewable wins a patent for its CCS2 to GB/T conversion technology.
Servotech Renewable Power System Ltd. has secured a patent from the Indian Patent Office for a new EV charging innovation titled System and Method for Charging an Electric Vehicle, marking a significant step forward in addressing compatibility issues within India’s fast-evolving electric mobility ecosystem. The company, a leading manufacturer of EV chargers and renewable energy solutions, said the patented technology enables GBT-based electric vehicles to charge seamlessly through CCS2 DC fast chargers.
With the industry steadily shifting towards the CCS2 standard, a large number of older and commercial EVs continue to rely on the GBT protocol. Servotech’s newly patented device functions as a smart converter that, when connected to a CCS2 charger, enables GBT vehicles to charge safely and efficiently. The company said the breakthrough is expected to boost utilisation of existing charging infrastructure and prevent legacy vehicle owners from being sidelined during the technology transition.
The system has already undergone successful trials on GB/T-enabled electric buses and commercial EV cabs, demonstrating strong performance and reliability. Servotech is exploring broader deployment with fleet operators, public transport agencies and large charging networks.
Commenting on the patent grant, Arun Handa, Chief Technical Officer at Servotech Renewable Power System Ltd., said the recognition underscores the company’s commitment to solving real-world industry challenges with scalable innovations. He added that the technology would help bridge India’s charging compatibility gaps and support a more unified and efficient EV ecosystem, reinforcing Servotech’s mission to advance inclusive electric mobility.
