Powering India’s green goals in Karnataka, Suzlon clinches 378MW wind deal with NTPC Green Energy, boosting their clean power partnership to 1.54GW.
Wind turbine maker Suzlon has bagged a 378MW contract from NTPC Green Energy (NGEL), adding to a growing list of large-scale projects. This deal brings the total capacity between the two firms to 1.54GW, highlighting a deepening relationship in India’s expanding renewable energy sector.
The project will be set up in Gadag, Karnataka, and involves the installation of 120 wind turbines, each generating 3.15MW. Suzlon will handle everything from the foundation work to installation, commissioning, and maintenance.
It is the second major order NGEL has placed with Suzlon in eight months, as the company continues to work closely with public sector enterprises.
JP Chalasani, CEO of Suzlon, described the deal as a strategic win that aligns with the company’s focus on high-quality projects. Meanwhile, vice-chairman Girish Tanti pointed to NTPC’s target of 60GW of renewables by 2032, calling the partnership a key step in realising that goal.
The deal also reflects a broader trend—India’s national and regional renewable targets are driving a surge in wind and solar installations. With the rising energy demand, the country is looking to diversify away from coal without compromising on supply.
This latest announcement follows a December 2024 agreement between Suzlon and JSP Green Wind 1, a Jindal Renewables firm, for a separate 302.4MW wind project, also in Karnataka.
