Charging ahead with green mobility, Tata Power partners with Gorakhpur Nagar Nigam to roll out ultra-fast EV stations, easing range anxiety and driving EV adoption in Uttar Pradesh.
Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited (TPEVCSL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Gorakhpur Nagar Nigam to strengthen the city’s electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.
Under the agreement, TPEVCSL will install ultra-fast charging stations at locations across Gorakhpur. The initiative aims to improve public access to charging facilities, reduce range anxiety among EV users, and encourage wider adoption of electric mobility in Uttar Pradesh.
The deployment will focus on high-footfall, transit-centric areas, ensuring charging points are available where they are most needed. Officials noted that the project aligns with the state’s broader vision to accelerate green mobility and build sustainable urban infrastructure.
Tata Power has already established one of India’s largest EV charging networks under its EZ Charge brand. The company operates more than 200,000 home chargers, 5500 public, semi-public and fleet charging points, and 1200 e-bus charging stations across over 630 cities and towns. Its customer base exceeds 500,000 registered users.
These chargers have been placed at diverse locations, including highways, hotels, malls, hospitals, offices, bus depots, commercial vehicle hubs and residential complexes.
The Gorakhpur initiative marks a further step in Tata Power’s expansion strategy, combining municipal collaboration with its existing expertise in EV infrastructure. The company highlighted that by focusing on accessibility and reliability, it aims to support both individual users and fleet operators in transitioning to cleaner transport options.
