For another 4G push, TCS teams up with BSNL, securing an APO of ₹29.03 billion for 18,685 sites across India.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has received an add-on advance purchase order (APO) worth almost ₹29.03 billion, inclusive of taxes, from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).
The order, confirmed on May 20 and announced in an exchange filing on Wednesday, involves planning, engineering, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and annual maintenance of BSNL’s 4G mobile network across 18,685 sites.
This is part of BSNL’s broader initiative to expand 4G coverage and prepare the groundwork for future 5G rollouts. It is expected to release detailed purchase orders to TCS in due course, after completing the required conditions and documentation outlined in the APO.
Tejas Networks, a TCS group company, has also secured a sub-order under this project. It will supply radio access network (RAN) and related equipment worth approximately ₹15.25 billion to TCS for the BSNL deployment.
This new order is an extension of TCS’s broader engagement with BSNL, which includes a ₹150 billion contract for setting up data centres and 4G infrastructure across the country.
TCS CEO K. Krithivasan previously stated that the BSNL contract is around 70% complete, with its revenue impact expected to taper by the fourth quarter. He also highlighted the company’s plans to explore new opportunities to offset the anticipated revenue decline.
In April, TCS reported a two per cent drop in consolidated net profit to ₹122.24 billion for the March quarter, while revenue grew 5.3 per cent year-on-year to ₹644.79 billion.
