Subsidiary WCES builds Gujarat purification plant to replace foreign imports of ultra-high purity process gases.
Waaree Clean Energy Solutions (WCES), a wholly owned subsidiary of solar manufacturer Waaree Energies, has announced its entry into India’s specialty gases market to supply local semiconductor fabs, packaging facilities, and solar cell manufacturing lines.
The company is constructing a dedicated specialty gases production facility at the GIDC Saykha industrial park in Dahej, Gujarat. The project aims to establish a domestic supply chain for high-purity process chemicals, which are currently heavily reliant on foreign imports, supporting the government’s broader Semicon India framework. Beyond gas production, WCES will offer end-to-end management systems covering chemical storage, distribution, safety monitoring, custom nitrogen plant design, and inventory control across India.
WCES is executing its commercial rollout in distinct phases, launching initial operations with ultra-high purity (UHP) hydrogen. The expansion strategy encompasses the construction of a semiconductor-grade specialty gas warehouse alongside a dedicated UHP ammonia purification unit. Furthermore, the company is establishing a phosphine-hydrogen mixing plant engineered for precision doping and deposition processes, complemented by UHP oxygen supply. To support advanced manufacturing across India, WCES will also provide a broad portfolio of critical process chemicals, including silane, nitrous oxide, boron trichloride, trimethyl aluminium, diborane, germane/hydrogen mixtures, and fluorinated gases.
Anuj Sharma, Chief Executive of WCES, stated that scaling domestic semiconductor and solar cell manufacturing requires a resilient, localized high-purity chemical supply chain. He noted that the initiative builds directly upon the firm’s existing clean-energy technology capabilities, including its electrolyser stack production base.
