Delta Electronics Eyes Growth In India Amid Supply Chain Shifts

Powering up in India by tapping EVs, AI, and automation, Delta Electronics is eyeing growth as global firms shift from China to the country’s booming supply chain.

Delta Electronics is set to expand its operations in India as global tariff shifts push firms to re-evaluate supply chains. Benjamin Lin, CEO of Delta Electronics India, told Digitimes Asia the company is preparing to attract more global clients to its local manufacturing base.

Lin said India stands to gain from these changes, with Delta’s team fully focused on leveraging this opportunity. Multinational firms are increasingly diversifying away from China, and Delta is talking with clients and consultants to understand how to adapt.

The firm runs a 120-acre ( approximately 48.56 hectares) plant in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, divided into export and domestic zones. It produces power supplies for home appliances, telecom, and industrial use.

Delta entered India in 2003 and has since expanded into electric vehicles (EVs). Its R&D centre in Bengaluru now develops products for global and domestic markets. The company is designing components for two-, three-, and four-wheeled EVs, and local production of EV chargers is set to begin soon.

Delta already supplies EV parts to premium global brands like BMW and Mercedes-Benz. In India, it targets price-sensitive OEMs such as Tata and Mahindra, aiming to secure IATF 16949 certification for automotive manufacturing by September.

The firm is also betting on India’s AI and data centre growth. It plans to build a server power supply team and expand ties with firms like IBM and Cisco. Delta is recruiting top engineering talent and offering dual-degree programmes with Taiwanese universities.

Though India has a 45 per cent renewable energy mix, Lin called for stronger policy support for energy storage systems. He also praised the government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.

Despite India’s low labour costs, Delta expects automation and robotics to grow. The firm is developing its own robots and sees this shift as essential to boosting quality and efficiency in manufacturing.
