Andhra Pradesh To Witness Rs 14,000 Cr Chip Investments At Orvakal Industrial Park

If successful, the project could position Andhra Pradesh as a hub for semiconductor manufacturing, further integrating the state into the global technology supply chain.

Andhra Pradesh is poised to witness significant advancements in the semiconductor sector as Industries Minister T.G. Bharat announced potential investments amounting to Rs 14,000 crore at the Orvakal industrial park in Kurnool district. The investment, led by an Indo-Japanese company, signals a substantial boost to the state’s industrial growth.

The minister emphasized the importance of this collaboration, revealing that arrangements have been made for the company’s executive to meet IT Minister Nara Lokesh in Amaravati. This meeting could pave the way for detailed discussions and a strategic roadmap to implement the ambitious project.

The executives from the Indo-Japanese company have identified the Orvakal industrial hub, situated in the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh, as an ideal location for their semiconductor investment plans. Industries Minister T.G. Bharat highlighted the favorable conditions of the industrial hub, which include robust infrastructure and strategic advantages conducive to large-scale projects.

According to the minister, the company is set to formalize its commitment by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh government. The signing ceremony is scheduled to take place in the second week of January 2025 and will be attended by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. This significant milestone reflects the state’s proactive approach in attracting high-value investments in cutting-edge technology sectors.
