Cutting response times, now there would be a drone for emergencies, as ideaForge partners with C-DAC to integrate UAVs into Dial 112, strengthening India’s secure, indigenous digital infrastructure.
The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ideaForge Technology to integrate drone operations into the nationwide Emergency Response Support System, better known as Dial 112.
As a part of the partnership, ideaForge will link its FLYGHT platform, a Drone-as-a-Service offering, with C-DAC’s emergency command infrastructure. The system will allow automated aerial dispatch of drones to incident locations within minutes. The drones can transmit live visuals, assess risks and support police, fire and medical responders before they arrive on site.
The collaboration aims to cut response times and improve situational awareness by deploying drones ahead of ground teams.
India’s average emergency response time is close to 20 minutes. Officials say drone-based first response can bypass traffic, rugged terrain and resource constraints. This could improve citizen safety during accidents, crimes and disasters.
The FLYGHT operates on a pay-per-use model. Public agencies can access drone capability without owning hardware or managing pilots and software. The platform is already used for traffic monitoring, disaster assessment, urban inspections, mapping and infrastructure security.
Beyond emergency response, the agreement also sets out a roadmap for joint research in advanced UAV, electronics and computing technologies. The partners will evaluate the use of C-DAC’s indigenous VEGA processor in ideaForge drones.
They will explore VEGA-based system-on-chip designs for flight control and pursue research into AI-enabled autonomous swarm drones.
The collaboration includes shared development and training programmes too. The focus is on secure data processing, real-time analytics and protection of sensitive information generated by drones.
The C-DAC team said the partnership strengthens India’s digital public infrastructure and enables the trusted use of drone data in mission-critical systems.
“This integration is a testament to ideaForge’s commitment to utilising indigenous technology to serve national security and public welfare needs,” said Sachin Pukale, AGM, Product Management ideaForge,
