SFAL, in partnership with the Department of Electronics and IT, Government of Odisha, will support and empower Odisha’s startup ecosystem in semiconductor design by providing strategic guidance, resources, and expertise to foster innovation, growth, and industry collaboration.

Odisha received investment commitments worth ₹20,900 crore across key sectors on the first day of the Utkarsh Odisha: Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 in Bhubaneswar. The investments span IT/ITeS, electronics, semiconductors, data centers, and related industries, bolstering the state’s economic ambitions.
Major companies, including Zoho, Emmvee Photovoltaic Power, Smartsync Innovations, Kaynes Circuits India, and VVDN Technologies, expressed significant interest. The Electronics and IT Department also signed MoUs with NASSCOM, Wadhwani Foundation, and the Semiconductor Fabless Accelerator Lab (SFAL) to advance AI initiatives, train government officials, and implement the O-Chip program.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the virtual foundation-laying ceremony of SiCSem Pvt. Ltd’s Silicon Carbide semiconductor facility. The ₹15-acre project at Infovalley, Bhubaneswar, marks a major step in Odisha’s semiconductor push.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized India’s rapid semiconductor growth, stating, “The India Semiconductor Mission’s success has made the world confident in India as a major semiconductor hub. Odisha’s skilled workforce will play a key role in this transformation.”
Odisha’s Minister for Electronics & IT, Mukesh Mahaling, outlined the state’s vision to become a $500 billion economy by 2036 and a $1.5 trillion economy by 2047. He highlighted plans for Tech Business Parks, IT clusters, GCC Parks, and an integrated FinTech cluster.
Jajpur MP Rabindra Narayan Behera noted that Odisha’s IT sector is evolving rapidly with quantum computing and AI, positioning the state as a leading tech hub. Principal Secretary Vishal Dev reinforced Odisha’s growing stature, stating that major national and global IT firms now have development centers in Bhubaneswar.
The event featured the release of the India Semiconductor Market Report 2030 and the inauguration of two STPI centers in Koraput and Jajpur. Panel discussions explored Odisha’s role in India’s tech revolution and growth potential of Tier-II cities.
With strong investor confidence, Odisha continues to solidify its place as a rising technological and economic powerhouse in India.
