Esri India has signed a MoU with Hyderabad-based Dhruva Space, to integrate satellite imagery in India through advanced GIS integration.
By allowing Dhruva Space to integrate its commercial imagery service, AstraView, into Esri India’s ArcGIS (Geographic Information System) platform. The combined platform is designed to simplify access to satellite data for end users and enhance analytical workflows across public and private sectors,
AstraView aggregates data from over 200 satellites across various sensors including optical, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Radio Frequency (RF), and hyperspectral. Esri India’s ArcGIS platform is widely used for mapping, analysis, and geospatial visualisation. Users will be able to derive insights by combining AstraView’s multi-sensor data with GIS-based spatial analysis tools.
Krishna Teja Penamakuru, Co-founder and COO of Dhruva Space, said “We intend to place satellite data at the centre of operational decision-making,” he said, adding that combining imagery with geospatial analysis improves planning and responsiveness across sectors.
Agendra Kumar, Managing Director, Esri India, said the integration enables satellite data to be more readily available to GIS users, which will support projects in sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, and disaster management. “This partnership aims to strengthen India’s geospatial ecosystem and promote self-reliance in satellite imagery access,” he said.
The partnership is expected to support government and enterprise users by enhancing their ability to use space-based data for monitoring, planning, and resilience-building. It also aligns with India’s broader goals to increase domestic capability in space and geospatial technology.
