Battery Life and Death

10 new entrants rising high

Embarking upon a new venture and surviving the competition can be ambitious tasks. Just like in any other industry, in the Indian power electronics arena, too, new companies are being established every other day. Some fail to withstand the rigours of seasonal slowdowns, poor government policies, unruly distribution networks, competition from co-manufacturers, threats from foreign imports and tardy payments. These enterprises slowly dwindle and fade away before they have even taken off. There are others, however, who brave the initial trials and tribulations of business establishment and emerge victorious. EPower highlights 10 such newcomers in the power electronics fraternity, who have not only endured the hardships that startups go through but also have demonstrated impressive growth during the few years of their existence. We welcome the new entrants on the block!

Masters of innovation

The number of new power electronics products launched over the last five years has reached historic levels, placing enormous pressure on manufacturers to innovate in order to stand out from the crowd. On the other hand, customers have also turned intelligent and shrewd, desiring the most feature packed and useful products, doubling the competition in the market. In such a scenario, a company’s ability to successfully identify and launch new, innovative products has become one of the most essential criteria for success. In this process, improving upon existing technologies has become imperative and many enterprises have established strong research and development units, into which they pump a fair amount of money every year to innovate and create new and unique products. Epower delves into this sector to find out some of the innovations that have taken place and the changes technologies are going through

Power solutions tailor made

In this competitive market, where every company is vying for a greater share, many are indulging in services like customised solutions, which are not only profitable but also a good brand building strategy

UPS and Inverter manufacturers:2009

‘EBTop 15 UPS and inverter manufacturers’is our attempt to enlist the best-performing companies in this domain with regards to their revenue. The power sector has been witnessing a very healthy growth over the last fiscal and this is distinctly reflected in the companys’revenues. We commenced this process approximately two months back, when we compiled the list of all major and minor UPS and inverter players and started contacting them. Some companies were quite eager to be part of this initiative, whereas there were a few who refrained from disclosing their revenues as it is against their company policy. This time, we have also made two separate lists of the strongest players in the UPS and inverter segments, respectively. We, at Electronics Bazaar, hope that more and more players will participate in this exercise in our future issues.

Govt & education sectors: Gold mines waiting to be tapped

To spur growth, the UPS segment can identify the government sector and educational institutes as thrust areas as these segments are into massive computerisation programmes, upsurging the demand for UPS as never before. Not only that, with the growth of the UPS market, demand for UPS battery and components for UPS will also swell

VRLA/SMF battery market robust with growth

The VRLA/SMF battery market is experiencing a robust growth rate with the growth in UPS and telecommunication sectors. Slowly, the traditional battery market is being conquered by SMF batteries

Battery channel partners

Channel Partners play a key role in deciding the fate of the manufacturers. Hence, they hold a key position in the industry. Electronics Bazaar has been rating the manufacturers of different product segments, but it is rating the channel partners of the battery industry for the first time. We approached all major battery manufacturers to share with us their channel database. We then got in touch with the channel partners in every nook and corner of the country and received overwhelming responses. However, some manufacturers didn’t disclose their channel partners’list with us.We hope to get them to join us the next time we decide to conduct this activity.
