The company can now claim incentives under the PLI scheme for Roadster X+.
Ola Electric Mobility Limited said it has received PLI certification for its Roadster X+ 4.5 kWh motorcycle. The information was given by the Company in an exchange filing on Friday, April 3, 2026.
As per Ola, the approval has been given by the Global Automotive Research Centre (GARC) under the government’s PLI scheme for auto and auto components.
This is the first bike in Ola’s Roadster lineup to get this certification. The approval confirms that the model meets the required domestic value addition (DVA) norms, which means a good part of the product is made in India.
Because of this, the company can now claim incentives under the PLI scheme for this model.
An Ola Electric spokesperson said the certification shows the company’s focus on localisation and building products within India. The company is also trying to expand electric motorcycles to more customers and grow this segment.
This development comes as Ola continues to push its strategy of making more components in-house and reducing dependency on imports. The company has been focusing on its own battery technology and manufacturing ecosystem.
Recently, Ola also cut the price of its Roadster X+ 9.1 kWh variant, which runs on its 4680 Bharat Cell. The price has been reduced to ₹129,999 from ₹189,999 for some limited units. The company said this was possible due to better scale and cost efficiency at its Gigafactory.
Overall, the PLI certification is expected to help Ola strengthen its position in India’s EV market, especially in the electric motorcycle category.
