With an ambitious electric vehicle pipeline, BMW accelerates its India strategy with 27 launches in 2026, expanding retail reach, and surging luxury EV sales momentum.
BMW Group has outlined an ambitious product and electric vehicle (EV) push for India in 2026, announcing plans to introduce 27 new models during the year. Ten of these will be entirely new products, including a next-generation electric vehicle with a range of approximately 800 km on a single charge.
The German luxury carmaker stated that the new EV would significantly extend its current range. Most BMW electric models sold today deliver close to 500 km per charge. The company had launched 20 products in India during 2025.
The announcement follows BMW Group’s highest-ever sales in the Indian market. Total car sales rose 14.48 per cent year on year to 18,001 units in 2025, up from 15,723 units in 2024. BMW-branded cars accounted for 17,271 units, while Mini contributed 730 units.
BMW Motorrad also reported strong performance. The two-wheeler arm sold 5841 motorcycles during the year. Including motorcycles, the group’s total retail volume in India reached 23,842 units in 2025.
BMW expects growth momentum to continue. The company is targeting a 14–15 per cent sales expansion in 2026, in line with its post-pandemic average.
President and Chief Executive Hardeep Singh Brar stated that BMW currently operates in 40 cities with 97 customer touchpoints. This network is expected to expand to 50 cities by the end of 2026, with 18 additional touchpoints planned.
Electric vehicles remain a key driver of growth. BMW said it holds the largest share of India’s luxury EV segment. EVs made up 21 per cent of its total car sales in 2025, up sharply from 8 per cent a year earlier. The company delivered 3753 BMW and Mini electric vehicles, representing 200 per cent annual growth.
BMW continues to invest in charging infrastructure and ownership solutions. Customers now have access to more than 6000 charging points through partnerships. The company aims to ensure that charging is available every 300km.
Financing and assured buyback schemes have also supported EV adoption, with nearly one-third of customers opting for the buyback programme.
