To boost India’s power semicondcutor industry, Mohali’s CDIL and Germany’s Infineon join hands to cater to energy-efficient sectors and e-mobility.
CDIL Semiconductors, based in Mohali, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Infineon Technologies of Germany to explore collaboration opportunities within India’s semiconductor industry.
The two companies plan to develop advanced power semiconductor products and solutions, with a focus on meeting India’s needs in areas such as e-mobility, renewable energy, and energy-efficient appliances.
As part of this agreement, Infineon will supply bare die wafers to CDIL, which will then package these wafers into discrete and module semiconductor products tailored for the Indian market.
Pankaj Gulati, President of CDIL, emphasised that the partnership not only promotes growth but also fosters innovation, supports the ‘Make in India’ initiative, and will position the country as one of the leaders in semiconductor technology.
Richard Kuncic, Senior Vice-President and General Manager of Power Systems at Infineon Technologies, highlighted the collaboration’s potential to address these critical sectors.
Founded in 1964, CDIL has established itself as a key player in semiconductor manufacturing, with four production facilities. The company produces a wide range of semiconductor products, including diffused wafers, transistors, diodes, rectifiers, thyristors, TVSs, and regulators.
This new partnership with Infineon further strengthens CDIL’s position in the industry, driving growth and innovation in India’s semiconductor sector.
